What can we know from shadows? How are they analogous to the Old Testament?

Think of a certain practice we do that points to Christ. How can they be helpful in our spiritual lives? Are there any cautions one should have when engaging in such practices? Throughout this year's Advent series, we will be reading through St. Paul's epistle to the Colossians, while identifying various aspects of how we may know Jesus Christ and live for Him.
