Church in Crisis - Part 2

The church went through many crises in history like plagues, famines, persecution.

Learn more about the plague of Cyprian in the 3rd century when thousands of people died every day, and how the church faced it at that time and other plagues in the church history.

Father Michael Sorial also mentions examples of famines in history like in the 7th Century at the time of pope Benjamine I, where hundreds of people were dying everyday and mass burials that have occurred. However, it's written that the church at that time has seen that famine as God's mercy and righteousness, not as God's wrath.

There were also times where the church doors were closed for extended periods of time such as at the time of the Calif Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah in Egypt.
