He is the Way

This sermon delivered on the fifth Sunday of Holy Pentecost, uses the Gospel of John 14 to explain that Jesus Christ is the only way for believers to ascend from earth to heaven. The central analogy compares an aimless drive to a journey with a destination, emphasizing that a goal requires following a specific way rather than wandering. The text highlights three major theological actions Jesus performed to make this journey possible: first, His redemptive and restorative work on the cross defeated sin and death and renewed humanity's communion with God; second, He broke down the dividing wall of sin that separated humanity from God; and finally, He gave believers the Holy Spirit, making them a temple of God. Ultimately, the text asserts that while Christ has perfectly paved the way to heaven, the decision to follow that path rests with the individual.
