St Athanasius was a patriarch of Alexandria in the 4th Century. He is famous as a champion of Orthodoxy defending it against the heresy of the Arians. Each year the patriarch of Alexandria would send a letter informing the Christian community of the date of Easter. This letter is from 333 AD on which the feast was celebrated on 20th of Pharmuthi or on the Gregorian Calendar - April 28.
