He Must Increase: The Humility and Asceticism of St. John the Baptist

Fr. Yacoub teaches us that through St. John the Baptist’s humility and asceticism, he recognised his role was to prepare the way for Christ, saying, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). His life of self-denial and devotion to God shows that true greatness comes not from seeking personal glory, but from humbling ourselves before God. When we seek God’s glory above our own, He fills us with His grace and allows Christ to increase within us. St. John’s example calls us to live with humility and surrender to God’s will.
