The Greatness of John

During the 1st Sunday of Tout, the Coptic Orthodox Church reads from Luke 7. Christ praises John the Baptist as the greatest born of women, yet reminds us that true greatness lies in faithfulness to the Kingdom. John prepared the way for Christ, and the martyrs prepared the way for the Church. At the start of the Coptic New Year, we are called to reset our lives in witness—living not with shallow resolutions, but with a baptismal mindset of faithfulness and hope.
