If You Knew the Gift of God

The gospel of the Samaritan Woman is read three times throughout the year: during Lent, the Holy 50 Days, and the prostration prayers. While read during Lent, it is a model of repentance; however, during the Holy 50 Days, it has a different purpose. The Samaritan Woman was living continuously on a "hamster wheel," running to the well consistently but with no change day in and day out. The remedy for this illness is knowing the gift of God, as our Lord tells the Samaritan Woman, the gifts of Resurrection and eternal life.
