Breaking Down the Barriers

Oct 12, 2025    Fr Paul Girguis
In this powerful sermon, Fr. Paul explores the story of the paralyzed man lowered through the roof to reach Jesus (Mark 2:1–12), revealing how faith, humility, and praise can break through every spiritual barrier that keeps us from Christ. He explains that many of us face invisible demonic barriers in our homes, marriages, friendships, and hearts—barriers built by sin, pride, noise, and spiritual neglect.
Fr. Paul challenges believers to identify the “crowds” and “roofs” in their own lives: the distractions, attachments, and pride that keep Jesus at a distance. Through fasting, humility, intercessory prayer, and praise—even in the storm—we can tear down these walls and allow Christ to bring healing, forgiveness, and renewal.
The sermon calls the Church to spiritual warfare, reminding us that the faith of the Church community, like the four friends who carried the paralyzed man, can bring healing and salvation to others. When we humble ourselves, lift up the Cross, and praise God in all circumstances, the barriers fall—and Christ enters to make all things new.
