Patrology I, Part 1: Introduction

Jul 14, 2020

Fr Tadros Malaty begins a new series that focuses on Patrology which explores the lives, biographies and stories of the Church Fathers and the work of the Holy Spirit within them in the early church.

Patrology is the study of the Fathers of the Church, whereby the word is derived from the Latin word 'Pater' meaning 'Father'.

Fr Tadros Malaty conveys 3 fundamental elements required to understand Patrology:
1. The lives and biographies of the Fathers
2. The acts of the Fathers through their writings and homilies
3. The thoughts of the Fathers through their circumstances

Ultimately, when we study Patrology, we not only study the works of the Fathers. Rather, we:

1. Become in touch with all different kinds of theology.
2. Recognise the heretics and their claims, and what impact this had on Church belief systems.
3. Understand the role of the laymen, children, women, and young people in the Church.

Join us in listening to this enlightening sermon on the early church and stay tuned for more parts to this incredible series!
